Who We Are

Established in 2008, Legacy Sports Camp was founded by Oak Park natives, Caleb Fields and Dan Kane. Between the two, they share over 2 decades of experience in supervising children's athletic programs. Together they use a time tested camp formula that has been successful in Oak Park and neighboring suburbs for over 20 years.

Legacy provides after-school programs, holiday camps, summer camps, park district programs, instructional training, leagues and private lessons. Our goal is to educate our participants on proper technique in individual and team settings. We believe that character has an important impact on young athletes and we instill these positive character traits in all of our programs. While doing this we provide a fun, safe, challenging, and high energy atmosphere in all of our programs.

Legacy Baseball is an elite baseball training program led by Caleb Fields. Legacy Baseball is devoted to building the complete baseball/softball player. We believe that baseball training is important outside of season competition. Our instructors have college and professional experience and are dedicated to helping each player reach their full potential in a fun and competitive atmosphere. Players will be challenged to work on drills and concepts that are age-specific and not always addressed during the season.

Dan Kane
Director of Camp Operations

Dan Kane attended Ascension school and Oak Park River Forest High School. Dan coached boys and girls basketball and soccer from 2002-2009 at St. Giles School in Oak Park, under the direction of Jim Collins. He helped supervise St. Giles' intramural and interscholastic programs that run year round. In 2007, Dan graduated from Marquette University with a BA in Broadcasting. Dan currently runs Legacy's day to day operations such as scheduling, marketing, public relations, human resources, accounting, programming and staffing. He currently runs almost all Legacy birthday parties, after-school programs and summer camps.

Caleb Fields
Director of Baseball Operations

Caleb attended Ascension school, is a youth Bronco/PONY alum and was an All-State infielder for Fenwick High School. He captained the Northwestern baseball team and was an All-Big 10 selection in 2006. In 2007, Caleb was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates organization where he played two seasons. He played in 2009 for the Rockford Riverhawks of the Frontier League. He has supervised youth camps for over 10 years in various sports and helped run a baseball academy on the North Shore with over 600 kids attending. Currently, Caleb is a Varsity baseball coach at Fenwick High School.

LEGACY SPORTS CAMP TRAINERS AND STAFF

Tim Dennehy (Baseball, Basketball, Sports Camps)

Tim played baseball and basketball for Oak Park and River Forest High School. After his OPRF graduation, Tim was drafted by the Cleveland Indians. He signed scholarships to play at the University of Texas, the University of Tennessee and Chandler Community College. Tim then played two years in the Yankee organization where he received a World Series ring and was the winning pitcher of his Gulf Coast Championship team. Tim has since coached high school baseball in Florida and at OPRF. Tim has been running Legacy programs and baseball lessons since 2010.

Tug Gillingham (Baseball)

Tug attended and played baseball at Walther Lutheran High School in Melrose Park, IL. He then played at Purdue University and Northern Illinois University, where he batted .294 in 2005. Tug has played professionally in the Frontier League for the Windy City Thunderbolts, in South Georgia for the SCL, Sioux City of the American Association, and the Joliet Jackhammers of the Northern League. He has over ten years of youth baseball training experience, specializes in catching and hitting fundamentals, and currently coaches baseball at Lincoln Park High School in Chicago.

Charles Bolden (Baseball)

Charles played 4 years of baseball at OPRF High School. He went on to play at the University of St. Francis. He then played professionally for the Rockford Riverhawks (IL) & Big Bend Cowboys (TX). Charles has been coaching and running baseball clinics across the Chicago land area with Legacy, St. Joseph’s High School, Bulls/Sox Academy and Playball USA. He currently coaches Varsity baseball at Immaculate Conception High School (Elmhurst).
